LIA recognizes that there are women within our community who find themselves in crisis situations but have no one specific place to turn to for help. Leaving a crisis situation or regaining equilibrium after a situational difficulty can be overwhelming – especially for those who have children but are without immediate family to help.
Persons in a crisis situation are sometimes unsure of the ‘next steps’ to take regarding things like housing or legal assistance. In some cases, persons may not even have the funds to pay for immediate needs such as food, gas, or medicine. Our organization desires to offer counseling to women in need, and to become a strong community resource hub, able to direct each woman in need to much-needed resource(s).
W.I.N.G.S. is a women’s ministry program offered through Life in Abundance. Our mission is to assist women in need as they move out of a crisis situation to a position of strength and stability. W.I.N.G.S. connects women to community resources and provides hands-on help when needed.
Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of the Living God. The Bible is the final authority on all matters of life, faith and practice.
We believe in the Trinitarian God of the Bible, one in substance, three in persons, consisting of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Son of God, the second person of the God-head, took upon Himself the form of man, becoming the God-man, with two distinct natures, and by His atoning work through His death, burial and resurrection has made salvation possible for man by His free grace.
We believe that salvation is an act of God’s saving grace by the work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating and converting the hearts of men by His free gift of saving faith.
We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ, in eternal damnation in a literal hell for the wicked, and in everlasting life, in heaven, with the living God for the righteous.
We believe that there is but one Head of the church, the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the responsibility of the church and its institutions to maintain His Lordship over their activities, and not to submit that right to any individual, corporate body, governmental agency or head of state, as long as we conduct ourselves as ambassadors of Christ and live as lawful citizens.
We believe that every area of life is to be subject to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We adhere to a world and life view which seeks to make the Lord Jesus Christ preeminent in all things.
Statement of Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as a male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.(Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.)
We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. (1 Thess 4:3-4)
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God.
(Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.)
We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Life In Abundance as part of the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the Life In Abundance counselees and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Life In Abundance in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement of Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality.
(Matt 5:16, Phil 2:14-16, 1 Thess 5:22.)
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11.)
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity.
(Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Life In Abundance.
